NNIRR additional questions to add to media discussion guide:

  • How does the availability of images, through the use of the internet and social media, affect our reactions to catastrophic events around the world?
  • Does it help connect people to causes that they otherwise wouldn’t be aware of, thereby providing more concern, advocacy, support and resources or does it desensitize people to the lasting effects of these occurrences due to the ever-changing pace of news and the internet?
  • What is our responsibility, as people not directly affected by these events, to provide support for those who are directly affected?
